About Heinz Glaser
Heinz has always and continues to be a rider. Having competed at international levels in 3Day Eventing and training horses that eventually went on to win CCI**** events as well and participate in the Barcelona Summer Olympics. Heinz has developed Hypona's line of horse care products with the needs of both the horse and rider in mind. He is still active in the sport as well as still shoeing his own horses.
Having learned Blacksmithing as part of his apprenticeship in Germany, Heinz went on on to attain two engineering degrees (Metallurgical and Mechanical). Farriery (horse shoeing) was a natural progression for a man who always wanted the best for his horses and didn't like what others were doing to their feet. He understood early on that the health and care of a horse starts from the hooves up. Learning from the great Bob Marshall, Heinz has constantly updated and improved his skills and as an expert in his field, is often asked to speak at conventions and seminars.
Heinz developed and built some of the very first portable propane forges available to farriers and designed and built the famous venturi burner still found on The Hypona Farrier Supreme and Valley's line of HotBox forges.
Hypona started the same way. Heinz not being happy with the products on the market and having a champion horse (Adonis went on to compete at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympic games ridden by Mike Plumb) with bad feet, he decided to do something proactive about it. Always an eye on making something better began researching and developing Hoof Balsam, and other products which would eventually become the world renowned line of products that Hypona now sells. Never one to settle on his achievements, Heinz continues to actively develop and look for new products for the benefit of the horse, rider, owner, Farriers and Vets, "for the the love of the horse".
